LOT 2 | MAGNUM OF 2006 JOSEPH DROUHIN BEAUNE CLOS DE MOUCHES ROUGE
Experience an icon of Burgundy with this library vintage magnum of the 2006 Joseph Drouhin Beaune Clos des Mouches Rouge Premier Cru. The name «mouches» means flies. There were once bee-hives in this sun-drenched «clos» (vineyard enclosure); the bees in the local dialect were called «mouches à miel» (honey flies), hence the name Clos des Mouches. From one of the first vineyards acquired by Maurice Drouhin (the founder’s son) in the 1920s; the wines from this vineyard have achieved mythical status within Drouhin’s history. This elegant, balanced Pinot Noir has impressive aging potential and a long finish that will leave you wanting more.
Tasting Notes from Véronique Boss-Drouhin:
Beautiful, deep-red ruby color, with the bright sheen of great Burgundies. Intense and fresh nose for the young wines. Primary notes of red fruit dominate, such as Morello cherry, raspberry, blackberry. There are hints of complexity with smoky flavors evolving towards liquorice. When the wine is maturing, aromas of pepper, tobacco, humus and undergrowth appear. When drinking the wine, the first impression is always clear-cut and the texture fleshy. The body is firm without being rough, well meshed without being heavy. There is great freshness in the younger wines. With age, the wine gets rounder. It takes on a velvety texture and a more precise architecture, supported by silky tannins. It is lively and refined at the same time. There remains a final and most pleasing sensation of harmony, fullness and delicate tannins, as the wine lingers on the palate.
Don’t miss your chance to own a piece of Drouhin history with this exceptional Clos des Mouches - aged and ready to drink!

LOT 3 | Two Cases of 2023 Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges Pinot Noir
Burgundy lovers rejoice! In partnership with Cork Vault, Charlotte Wine + Food has assembled a unique offering from one of Burgundy’s renowned Hospices!
The Domaine des Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges is a winemaking-hospital with a long history dating back to 1270. Since 1961 this top level estate in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits has sold all its production in a charity auction that takes place every year on the second Sunday of March in the cellar of the famous Château du Clos de Vougeot. Money raised during the auction allows the winemaking hospital to take care of its patients, its buildings and its vineyards.
The Hospices de Nuits-St-Georges vineyards cover 12.4 hectares, split over several villages: Nuits-St-Georges, Premeaux-Prissey, Vosne-Romanée and Gevrey-Chambertin. Most of the domaine wines come from the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, with 8 village plots and 9 premiers crus.
Each lot auctioned corresponds to a certain number of 228 litres barrels, called pièces. Every year, around 150 barrels are auctioned with each barrel amounting to 288 bottles.
This past March, our trusted partners at Cork Vault traveled to Burgundy to bid and bring home some of these historic and hard-to-get wines to the Queen City!
This winning bidder of this lot will receive two mixed cases (24 750 mL bottles) from THREE of the very best Premier Cru barrels in the auction - inclusive of two separate cuvées from the Les Didiers Vineyard - as well as Cork Vault’s top pick from the Villages-level barrels.
Premier Cru Barrels
Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Didiers « Monopole » – cuvée Fagon | Elevage Partner: Domaine Henri Gouges – considered to be the very best producer in the region. This bottling is expected to be the most stellar as well as the most age-worthy of the four barrels purchased.
Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Didiers « Monopole » – cuvée Jacques Duret | Elevage Partner: Domaine Gachot-Monot - the least well-known of the elevage partners herein, however, they come with the highest recommendation imaginable – that of Aubert de Villaine, owner of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. Gacot-Monot is well-known for elevating the final product of whatever wine is in barrel to far above its quality designation. Their wines are also specifically designed to be ready-to-drink when young even if they are also age-worthy.
Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Terres Blanches – cuvée Saint-Bernard de Cîteaux | Elevage Partner: Domaine Hubert Lignier – an undeniably top producer in the region known for scrupulously sorting and sacrificing yields ensuring the highest level of final product.
Villages-level Barrels
Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Saint-Julien – Les Plateaux – cuvée Claude Poyen | Elevage Partner - Domaine Gachot-Monot
Wines are expected to arrive in Charlotte in the Fall of 2025 and will be delivered by Charlotte WIne + Food to the winning bidder's location of choice within the Charlotte metro region.

LOT 4 | Trio of Magnums - 2020 Joseph Drouhin Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru in OWC
Indulge in a truly magnificent wine with this magnum trio of 2020 Joseph Drouhin Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, a gem from Burgundy's Côte de Nuits. Located below Chambertin and adjacent to Griotte-Chambertin, the Grand Cru vineyard of Charmes produces a wine of extraordinary elegance and depth. The 2020 vintage is marked by remarkable concentration, promising a wine that will continue to evolve and improve over time. With an impressive aging potential of up to 40 years, this Charmes-Chambertin is an investment in future enjoyment. Complete with its original wood case, enjoy this timeless trio of Burgundy that embodies both elegance and exceptional quality.
Tasting Notes from Véronique Boss-Drouhin:
A generous and distinctive wine, often superb. The color is intense and bright. On the nose, the first impression that arises is that of cherry. Then, woody and fine spicy aromas appear, with an elegant hint of musk in some vintages. The flavors are extraordinary in their richness and harmony, neither too rough nor too heavy. The architecture of the wine is held up by fine and noble tannins, giving the body a silky texture (called "gras"). Acidity brings energy and liveliness to the whole. The aftertaste is a pure delight.
