CHARLOTTE WINE + FOOD’S 3RD ANNUAL HOLIDAY GIFT DRIVE

Thank you for helping us spread some holiday cheer!

With your support, we fulfilled the wishes of A Child's Place (ACP), Augustine Literacy Project (ALP), GenOne, and The Learning Collaborative (TLC).

On top of all the wishes, we donated $2,500 across all four charities.

We are so grateful for our 3rd Annual Holiday Gift Drive donors:

Ariail and Andrew Barker, Katie Barker, Tammy Barker, Mike and Bree Basham, Tom and Kelley Bohrer, Melissa Collins, Craig Selimotic Danforth, Linda Deese, Jim and Betsy Deupree, David and Mary Frances, Larry and Ginger Griffin, Rona Harden, Bonnie and Ted Kelly, Lisa Oehmig, Richard De Sousa and Valerie Dulude, Palmer and Maria Steel, Donald and Brenda Thompson, Tim Wallace

A Child's Place (ACP), requested new winter jackets for 50 children who are experiencing homelessness in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area. These will help to provide warmth, comfort, and security during the winter months. The estimated cost is $25-35 per jacket.

Augustine Literacy Project (ALP) - Charlotte requested 125 hardcover copies of Julie Fogliano and Christian Robinson’s children’s book, Just In Case You Want to Fly, to give to ALP tutors to read aloud with their students and to give them the book. The 11-step ALP lesson plan is structured to methodically teach a child to read. The last part is a read-aloud portion, where the tutor reads to the student. ALP conducts its program in Title 1 schools, serving under-resourced children. These will be great to share and gift to ALP students. The estimated cost is $14/book.

GenOne has requested a brand new Apple Air laptop to gift to a deserving graduating high school senior - a valuable and necessary tool for any college-bound student. The student will be identified by GenOne as someone with financial need who has also shown outstanding commitment to their academic achievement and personal growth throughout participation in GenOne's program. The estimated cost is $999+tax.

The Learning Collaborative (TLC) has requested a set of new socks, underwear, sweatpants, and shirts for each of the 72 pre-school children currently enrolled in their tuition-free preschool program for underserved children. These clean clothes are used in the case of accidents at school, ensuring all students feel comfortable and confident to make the most of their school day. The estimated cost is $20 per set.
